Alpaca Pirineu is run by Joana and Narcís, two lovers of animals, nature, and the Pyrenees. The project began in 2013 when Joana and Narcís introduced a small herd of these special animals into their lives. In early 2014, they expanded the herd with five females and one male, who now live in a spacious area in the Catalan Pyrenees, marking the first alpaca herd in Catalonia. These alpacas, of the Huacaya breed, originally came from Euskadi and Cantabria.
As of today, the herd consists of 30 alpacas, 24 of which were born in the Pyrenees.
Interacting with the alpacas is always done with great respect, patience, consistency, and, above all, affection. The owners' priority has been and continues to be the well-being and understanding of these animals.
The guided visit lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes a tour of the enclosure, the alpaca fiber workshop, and insights shared by Joana, who demonstrates a deep sensitivity in her explanations. Visitors can also feed the alpacas, observe them up close, and appreciate and purchase handmade, natural, organic, sustainable, and ethical products crafted by Joana herself.
