The Fifth Lake route

Discover the magical lake of Montcortès - Self-guided hiking at the gates of the Lleida Pyrenees. The Pre-Pyrenees is a little-known territory of Catalonia, but ideal to enjoy walking in nature, tranquility and nostalgia.

We invite you to get on the panoramic Tren dels Llacs and enjoy an exceptional journey from the Lleida plain to the foot of the Pyrenees.

There are four lakes that you will find along the route: San Lorenzo de Montgai, Camarasa, Bodegas and San Antonio. The Fifth Lake, which gives its name to the route, is the one you will find doing this circular mid-mountain hiking itinerary, accessible to all kinds of fans.

It is signposted and divided into 5 stages between 4 and 6 hours and presents a low technical difficulty. Throughout the 105 km, you will overcome the changing geography that nature offers you and enjoy one of the most surprising areas of the Pyrenees, to end up discovering the mysterious and poetic Lake Montcortès, an enchanted lake, the scene of beautiful legends.

Resting in rural accommodation will also be a unique experience: they will offer you quality gastronomy based on our delicious km0 agri-food products, they will make the route easier for you by organizing the transfer of luggage from house to house while you walk without weight, and they will provide you with the Meals in a lunch box and napkin of bundled clothes as used by the shepherds who traveled these roads.

DAY 1

Arrival at your own expense in Lleida, where you take the LAKES TRAIN to Pobla de Segur.
Accommodation in Can Fasersia.
Welcome drink and delivery of documentation by the hosts of the house.

DAY 2

Hiking from La Pobla de Segur to Peramea.
Overnight at Casa Parramon.
Distance: 19.5 km.
Positive slope: 1127 m.
Negative slope: -759 m.

DAY 3

Hiking from Peramea to Beranui.
Accommodation at Casa Macianet.
Distance: 14.6 km.
Positive slope: 1191 m.
Negative slope: -1,078 m.

DAY 4

Hiking from Beranui to Les Esglèsies.
Overnight at Casa Batlle.
Distance: 23 km.
Positive slope: 985 m.
Negative slope: -860 m.

DAY 5

Hiking from Les Esglèsies to Senterada.
Accommodation at Casa Leonardo.
Distance: 25.2 km.
Positive slope: 1320 m.
Negative unevenness: -1,630 m.

DAY 6

Hiking from Senterada to La Pobla de Segur.
Overnight at Churchill House.
Distance: 23 km.

SLOW VERSION

The slow version offers the possibility of walking fewer hours (from 4 to 5 hours) a day without missing the most important parts of the route and adding a pick-up service with transport.

For whom taking photographs, meeting local people and enjoying a good picnic is as important as the walk itself. And with transfers already included in the route to make the journey smoother.

The following cancellation fees will apply:

Cancellation 10 days before the start of the activity - Refund of 0% of the total amount.
Cancellation up to 15 days before the start of the activity - Refund of 50% of the total amount.
Cancellation up to 20 days before the start of the activity - Refund of 100% of the total amount.
Cancellation due to Force Majeure and illness - Refund of 100% of the amount if medical proof is presented.
